Dodge City - Walter L. Price, 89, died July 26, 2021 at Manor of the Plains in Dodge City. He was born on February 18, 1932 at Mullinville, Kansas the son of Harold and Virgie (Stein) Price.
Walt was raised in Mullinville, Kansas and went on to attend York College in York, Nebraska. He married Kay Brown Mabry on July 5, 1970 in Dodge City, she survives.
Walt loved life. He enjoyed spending time with family, friends and especially his grandchildren. He could always be counted on for a smile and an enthusiastic approach to the day. He worked 49 years in scale repair for BJ Mfg, Harsh and Roto-Mix. He always had a project or a car to work on, loved entertaining his grandkids, enjoyed visiting with people and would go out of his way to help others in whatever way he could. Walt liked to end his day looking at the moon.
He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church where he devoted countless hours serving in whatever capacity was needed. He was a man of great faith and loved his church and church family.
Walt is survived by his wife Kay, three daughters, Kathie (Carl) Daniel of Cypress, Texas; Mindy (Jude) Wilson of St Mary's; and Cindy Frankowski of Plains; two sons, Lee Freeman of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Jeff (Heather) Freeman of Anchorage, Alaska. He is also survived by three sisters, Reta (Lowell) Johnson of Sioux City, Iowa; Rebecca McFadden of Mullinville; and Clara (Alvin) Brown of Lee Summit, Missouri; and one brother, Virgil Price of Dodge City. Grandchildren are Courtney (Corey) Hull, Blake (Jennica) Price, Challen Frankowski, Mikaleigh (Lance) Woodward, Devany Wilson, Brenna Wilson, Tug Wilson, Sabine (Robert) Lovett, Victoria (Josh) Bohler, Adam Freeman, LeAeron (Michael) Yen, Madison Daniel, Roman (Bechut) Freeman, Nicholas (Amber) Freeman and Amber (Ben) Parker as well as 21 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, Robert Freeman and Bryan Mabry; one Daughter, Melissa Mabry, one sister, Ramona Blalock and two brothers, Jack Price and Larry Price.
Funeral service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church on Wednesday, August 11, 2021 at 10:30 AM with Jeff Hiers presiding. Burial will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday at Hillcrest Cemetery in Mullinville. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel on Tuesday, August 10, 2021 from Noon to 8:00 PM. Memorials are suggested to the First Presbyterian Church or the American Institute for Cancer Research both in care of the funeral home.
