WANDA MAE BROGDEN

Dodge City - Wanda Mae Brogden, 90, died November 29, 2014 at Presbyterian Manor of the Plains in Dodge City. She was born on June 17, 1924 at Gracemont, OK the daughter of William Roy and Zela (Balock) DeSpain.

Wanda was raised in Hinton, OK. She married Eli Brogden, Jr. on September 20, 1943 in Oklahoma City, OK. He preceded her in death on February 15, 2002. Mr. & Mrs. Brogden moved to the Dodge City area in 1950.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Dodge City.

Wanda is survived by one son, Dennis Brogden and wife Carol of Dodge City; one daughter, Karen Wimer and husband Bob of Dodge City; two sisters, Geraldine Dodson of Broken Bow, OK and Imogene Eager of Riverton, WY; three brothers, Melvin Despain of Watonga, OK, Donald Despain of Southern Pines, NC, and Marvin Despain of Pocola, OK; 8 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and 10 great great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, William Colman Despain.

Funeral service will be held at First Baptist Church in Dodge City on Saturday, December 6, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. with Steve Ormord presiding. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home on Friday, December 5, 2014 from 12:00 - 8:00 PM. Memorials are suggested to First Baptist Church in care of the funeral home.
