Dodge City - William Francis "Frank" Beadle died April 24, 2009 at 7:00 P.M. at Western Plains Medical Complex in Dodge City. He was born on Valentines Day February 14, 1918 to William Harrison and Lyda Anzo (Kidd) Beadle in Wright.
He married Lois Rachel Eitel on November 19, 1940 in Dodge City. She preceded him in death. He later married Willa Maxine (Clothier) Bunyan on October 29, 1949 in Dodge City. They celebrated 59 years of marriage. He received Jesus Christ into his heart as his Lord and Savior and was baptized on January 5, 2009 at Good Samaritan Society in Dodge City.
He attended Spearville school snd worked on his parents' farm. He was employed as a truck driver for Kindsvater Trucking during his early years.
Frank enlisted in the United States Navy in 1943 at Dodge City and served as a Motor Machinist Mate 2nd Class. He was honorably discharged in 1946 at Shelton, Virginia. Later he was a salesman who became Department Manager for the Montgomery Ward Tire Department and was employed for 33 years. He retired and then went to work as a Hardware Department Manager for 10 years at Gibson's in Dodge City.
He loved hunting and fishing. He caught his share of big catfish and large...large mouth bass. In his 40's he caught "Golf fever" and became an avid golfer at Mariah Hills and golf courses throughout Kansas. He also did a lot of volunteer work at Mariah Hills repairing golf carts and helping around the course. Frank also had two Hole-In-One certifications at the Mariah Hills Golf Course. Frank won an all expense paid trip to Akron, Ohio to the Firestone Country Club Golf Course where he got to play with professional golfers. He was an honest man, a loving husband and father who worked hard and had a great sense of humor even through the difficult times of life.
Survivors include his wife, Willa Maxine Beadle of Dodge City; a step-son Max Bunyan and wife Claudia of Dodge City; a step-daughter Georgia "Sue" Bunyan of Dodge City; two brothers Jake Beadle and wife Clara Mae of Olathe, and Dale "Ed" Beadle of Dodge City; a sister Amanda "Tish" Morrow of Derby; a sister-in-law Beth Ann Clothier of Dodge City; granddaughter Elisabeth (Bunyan) Bass and husband Matthew and great grandsons Cory and Blake Bass of Salem, Virginia; grandson Youth Pastor Joshua Bunyan and wife Tessa of Olathe; grandson Peter Bunyan of Dodge City; grandson Jay Barlow of San Diego, California; plus numerous nieces and nephews and their families.
A celebration of life service will be 10:00 A.M. Friday, May 1, 2009 at 10:00 A.M. in the Chapel at Good Samaritan Society at 501 W. Beeson in Dodge City. There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. Inurnment will take place following the service at Kansas Veterans Cemetery at Ft. Dodge with military graveside rites by Howard Gotschall Post # 1714, V.F.W.. Memorials are suggested to Hospice Of The Prairie in care of Swaim Funeral Home.
