Obituary

Ensign - William Everett McGary Jr. was born in Montezuma on March 28, 1943 to William Everett and Erma M. McGary. William was the sixth of fourteen Children. He went home to be with the Lord on Monday, August 10, 2020, while in Clermont, Florida with his daughters.

As a child William attended The Apostolic Faith Pentecostal Church under the leadership of Pastor Lucille Luckey. He then attended several other churches and continued in faith throughout his life. He grew up working on the family farm in Ensign and received his education at Ensign Public School, where he was a member of the eight man football team, basketball team and 4H Club. He remained a sports enthusiast for life. After graduation, William moved to Los Angeles, CA where he met and married Yvonne M. Jones on July 13, 1963 to this union four children were born William III, Camille, Mark and Lisa Nicole.

William lived in Los Angeles and Colorado Springs before settling in the Cleveland, Ohio area where he met and married Marcia Mae Patrick on July 31, 1981, in Las Vegas, NV. William was a very hard working man and worked in construction as a Carpenter until his retirement. He was recently awarded his 50 year badge for the local 435 United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America and was truly a jack of all trades. There were not too many things he could not do or attempt to do. Bill especially loved to figure things out that he had no idea how to fix. He would invent innovative equipment and unique methods to help him complete projects. As an adult, William had a passion for arm wrestling where he competed and won several trophies and awards including the Ohio State Arm Wrestling Championship. Most often, when he challenged someone with his 'Camel Clutch' they declined because they knew he would win.

Bill loved the outdoors, but was especially proud of his amazing gardens and shared his harvests with his neighbors and friends. He was passionate about collecting antiques, unique things, cars and thrift shopping. He could see the potential in something that seemed hopeless and transform it into a wonderful new gem. He enjoyed shooting pool, fishing, boating and spending time with his grand children. Affectionately known as Wild Bill, he truly enjoyed westerns and especially loved the show Deadwood about the lawman Wild Bill Hickok of the 1800's. He taught himself to paint and was especially proud of his portraits.

He is preceded in death by his parents, two sons: William McGary III and Mark McGary, one daughter Michelle Smith and three siblings: Chester McGary, Roger McGary and Alamia Freeney. He leaves to cherish his memory, two daughters: Camille Wade (Ronny), Nicole Burnett (George) of Clermont, FL., six sisters: Mary Patty-Wichita, KS, Portia Washington-Aurora, CO., Teresina Taylor-Denver, CO., Kathleen Gray-Sacramento, CA., Roseanna Angelo (Michael)-Oklahoma City, OK., Margie Garrett-Fontana, CA., four brothers: Merlin McGary (Mae)-Oklahoma City, OK., Jack McGary-Ensign, KS., George McGary-Wichita, KS., Lester McGary-San Bernardino, CA.
