William B. Moffitt, Jr., 93, died February 16, 2011 at Western Plains Medical Complex in Dodge City. He was born on April 22, 1917 at Oakland, CA the son of William B. and Amanda (Austin) Moffitt, Sr.
Mr. Moffitt attended Sacramento High School in Sacramento, California and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He married Ruth G. Ditmars on January 9, 1946 in Washington, Kansas.
He was a member of the Washington Church of the Brethren and Gideons International.
Mr. Moffitt is survived by his children, Linda Shank and husband Dr. Robert Shank of Washington, Dr. Calvin and wife Candace Moffitt of Fallon, Nevada, Nancy and husband Dr. Garold Minns of Wichita, Ann and husband Dr. John Hartsough of North Manchester, Indiana, Barbara Moffitt of Washington, Dr. Murial and husband Rodney Joy of Falls City, Nebraska, and Dr. James and wife Debra Moffitt of Dodge City; a sister, Mary Davis of Sacramento, California; 16 grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth G. Moffitt on May 5, 2009.
Memorial service will be held at Washington Church Of The Brethren in Washington, Kansas on Saturday, February 26, 2011 at 1:30 PM with Pastor Darren Rempel presiding. Inurnment will be at Washington Church Of The Brethren Cemetery. There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place.
