CHICAGO - William F. Ostrom, Jr. of Chicago, Illinois passed away on Sunday, October 2, 2016 at his home. He was born in Omaha, Nebraska May 15, 1940 to William F Ostrom, Sr and Mildred (Rasmussen) Ostrom.

William worked for United Airlines for 54 years in various locations and different positions. His position upon retirement in Chicago in 2013 was fuel manager for worldwide flights.

His main passion was composing and recording music. His stage name was Billy Starr and he made numerous CD's in his later life.

He is survived by his beloved wife, LeAnn Tyree of Chicago; son, Mark; daughters. Pam Kirby of Torrence, CA and Theresa Rainaldi and husband Joe of San Jose, CA; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Also surviving is his uncle, Robert Rasmussen; two brothers, David Ostrom and wife Marcia and Tom Ostrom and wife Denise; and three nephews all of Omaha, Nebraska. He is preceded in death by his brother Andre Ostrom.

Funeral service will be held at Grace Community Church on Saturday October 8, 2016 at 10:30 AM with Pastor Kirk Larson presiding. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home on Friday October 7, 2016 from Noon to 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in care of Swaim Funeral Home.
