DODGE CITY - Wilma P. Goertz, 94, died December 30, 2016 at Presbyterian Manor of the Plains, Dodge City. She was born on February 22, 1922 at Waurika, Oklahoma the daughter of William L. and Ella (Lewis) Peters.
Wilma was a graduate of Amarillo High School and Amarillo Junior College. On May 4, 1953 she married David J. Goertz at Denver, Colorado. Wilma was a retired claims representative for the Dodge City Social Security Office.
She was a lifetime member of the Presbyterian Church and was currently a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Dodge City and a charter member of the Beta Sigma Phi in Iola, Kansas.
Wilma is survived by a niece, Laurie Thompson of Richardson, Texas; longtime care givers, Judy Rumsey of Dodge City and Betty Ann South of Dodge City. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, David J. Goertz; four sisters and one brother.
Memorial service will be held at Swaim Funeral Home on Friday January 6, 2017 at 10:00 AM with Kevin Salzman presiding. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City. There will be no public visitation as cremation has taken place. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of the Prairie or Manor of the Plains both in care of the funeral home.
