Cecil Offerle Jr., passed away Aug. 17, 2017 in Dodge City. He was 75. Cecil was born in Spearville on May 11, 1942, to Cecil and Mabel (Frolich) Offerle. He was a life-long Ford County resident. Cecil married Linda Green on Sept. 30, 1964, in Offerle. They later divorced.
Cecil was a life-long farmer and owned and operated Offerle Repair for many years. He was a master builder and could often fix or build things others couldn't. He attained his pilot's license in 1980 and loved to fly.
Cecil was a Lions Club member and instrumental in the building of the tennis courts and restrooms in Offerle. He maintained the roads in Trenton Township for a number of years and was a trustee of the Evergreen Cemetery.
Cecil was a huge sports fan and proudly supported his sons, as well as his granddaughters, from the stands or on the sidelines. He volunteered for many years as a youth baseball coach. He was an avid hunter/fisherman and a member of the National Rifle Association, as well as the Kinsley Gun Club.
Cecil is survived by his sons Wayne and wife Yvonda of Offerle, Kansas and Mike and wife Sonia of Offerle, Kansas as well as granddaughters: Taylor, Cody, Brooke and Cameron. He is also survived by sisters: Dolores Moss and husband Tom of Steele, N.D.; Maureen Jenkins of Greensburg; and Marilyn Wagner of Dodge City, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial service will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2017 at 10:00 AM at Swaim Funeral Home in Dodge City with Rev. Randall Jahnke officiating. There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. Memorials may be made to the Kinsley Gun Club in care of the funeral home.
